Zhou Yi is a Chinese Pâtissier best known as the “Sugar King.” He is famous for using fondant to mold figurines that look like dolls as decorations on cakes and pastries.
A highlight of his work is how intricate and unbelievable some of the art can be outside of the figurines. Just check out the impressive pond and tree effects.
You’re going to see a bunch of warriors and majestic creatures here. It’s nice to see a simple guy like this. The best part of it all? The tiny smoke plume coming out.
It’s really hard to even see that this is actually a cake. It just looks like someone set up a very detailed figurine with some accessories on the side. It’s incredible.
Once in a while, Zhou will bust out a famous design. This one showcases Captain Jack Sparrow and even features a Kraken tentacle and other bits from the franchise.
Sometimes, it’s the simplest thing that makes for the best cakes. This one depicts an elderly man lounging around in a rocking chair and we can all relate.
This would’ve been an impressive piece with just the woman laying on the bed. The addition of everything else above is what takes it over the top to the next level.
You can easily tell what stands out about this creation. That sword is one of the coolest things you’ll ever see. It looks like something not even a toy could match.
Take a moment to truly look at this piece of art. It can be edible but it’s still just that. Artwork. That’s how gorgeous this peacock cake is. We wouldn’t even want to eat it.
The level of work put into the facial expressions is honestly amazing. We love them all here, especially the dude on the end who seems a bit out of place.
One of the most impressive things about any of these designs is the way that the hair is handled. That can be difficult to pull off due to how intricate it can be but Zhou nails it.
More than a few people have pointed out that this cake decoration looks an awful lot like Hermione from the “Harry Potter” franchise. They’re certainly not wrong.
You simply will not find a more adorable piece of cake art on this list than this one. From the eyes to the innocent facial expression, everything about this works wonders.
For the most part, these look incredibly realistic and don’t really have a cartoonish feel to them. However, that changes when you look at this camel’s smile.
This one probably took a painstakingly long amount of time to get just right. There are tons of uses of the color pink and it’s all done in a way that looks gorgeous.
Here’s one that is so good, it’s actually kind of mind-blowing. Every tiny detail is seemingly done to perfection and it’s some of the best work he’s done.
Seriously, you just have to be impressed with efforts like this one. The figurine looks as great as ever, but it’s the half-moon and all of the jewels that make it special.
Mermaids are always one of the most interesting art concepts to ever be done in any medium. That’s the case here again, even if their torsos are a bit off.
It feels like the more of these you see, the more impressive they get. This one has an insane amount of detail going into it and it still looks remarkable in every way.
We end things with a cake that seems to take a bunch of Zhou’s different skills and puts them all together. Multiple figurines, little furniture pieces, trees, and more.
