Getty Museum asked people to recreate famous paintings in their homes today. One of the best things about it is using updated technology, as shown here.
Sometimes, you don’t have everything needed to recreate a painting exactly. For example, instead of a child, you may have a wonderful dog that you consider your kid.
We’ve seen people do some incredible things with LEGOs. That included this take on an iconic piece by Piet Mondrian. It’s pretty accurate all the way through.
It’s early but this is possibly already our favorite entry on the list. It’s almost uncanny how accurately this was created. The original is famous but we prefer the dog.
Here we have Shan Millan. She was able to bust out her very own version of this famous painting and opted to invite plenty of others to join in on the fun.
You have to love the paintings that can be redone in creative ways with your everyday household items. That’s the case here and it’s pretty fantastic.
Rockwell’s “Girl with a Black Eye” is a legendary piece of art. This family did their best to give it an attempt and we have to say, they pulled it off pretty well.
Forget “Whistler’s Mother.” Who needs that painting when the brand new take, “Whistler’s Toddler” is available for everyone? The sad face on the kid makes it perfect.
A lot of effort was put forth to recreate the setting. It’s pretty close. The best part has to be that it is a kid as the subject this time around. They’re doing a very good job.
If it wasn’t for the person making sure that the outfits matched, we might not even know this was a recreation. It could’ve just been someone out cold after a long day.
This is another case of finding a painting and figuring out a way to put your own spin on it. This may have been out of necessity, but either way, it works out.
Most people can recognize Banksy’s “Flower Bomber” at first glance. The recreated version keeps some of the look of the original, yet has a modern take.
The painting of dogs playing poker will always be one of the most memorable in history. This recreation looks absolutely breathtaking. How did they do it?
Look, if you’re going to find a way to include dogs in your recreation, it’s going to be one of the more popular entries on this list. Like this one, for example.
The best part about this recreation is the inclusion of the tweet. The fact that this person chose to do this in the cold winds proved a great level of dedication.
As much as we appreciate a serious level of dedication, we’re glad this guy didn’t go to the next level. At least, we’re pretty sure he didn’t hack his own ear off for this.
Sometimes, it’s all about going that extra mile to be creative. These people used household items to create their own version of a legendary piece of artwork.
These folks in Iceland came together to deliver a very impressive interpretation of this classic painting. Points for creativity with the coat and towel on the right.
This might be the most interesting take on the list. It’s another of Mondrian’s work but done in the form of a cake. Talk about some expert baking.
We end with another of the most memorable paintings in all of history. The costumes are spot on but we also think that their looks are close. There’s only thing off about it. Can you spot it?
